So your parents told you what their parents told them and their parents told them and so on for several generations. Get good grades in school so you can get a good job. Be loyal and work hard and you can retire one day and live the good life. The better you do in school, the better job you will get and the better you do at your “better” job the better your retirement will be.

So the master plan is to work for someone else for 40+ hours per week for 30+ years and then retire. The problem with that plan is if your results are not what you expected, there is no way to switch to a better one after you realize it. The hard fact is only about 5% of those who follow that plan actually wind up with enough of a retirement check to live with no assistance.

All you have to do is go down to the local old folks home and make some friends and ask about it. You will find that the plan didn’t work for most and the ones it did work for made it happen on their own. They didn’t work for someone else’s dream. They worked for themselves. They made it happen because they took the initiative to go for it.

Today with the Internet, there are many opportunities out there for those that want to take their own initiative. But you will have to learn what they didn’t teach you in school. In school they teach what you will have to know if you want to be a schoolteacher, secretary, business adminstrator, all of the thing so you can work for someone else. What they don’t teach you is how to make money. There are many stories throughout the past that support that statement.

Do you think Henry Ford was a smart man? He practically put our country on wheels by building the first automobile factory and mass producing them. Yet he never went to college and never even reached high school. That alone tells you that the education you learn in school has little to do with how much money you can earn. It goes both ways though.

There are very educated people out there who are earning next to nothing and people like Henry Ford who are earning millions even though they didn’t finish school. Those people have learned how to make money and that is what successful home based business owners do. They commit to being all in and they take the initiative to make it happen.

There are many people who try and fail at this industry too. But one of the main reasons for that are the methods that are used to get them to join. Many sponsors out there will try to sign up everyone they can in the hopes that some of them will stick. They tell prospects what amounts to lies that lead to false expectations. But sponsors that do this will not be successful in the long run because they will have to continually keep adding people to replace the drop outs.

Every income leader in this industry can show you an extensive library and will tell you they are continually taking training courses and spending money on their education. But instead of learning English, math, or history, they are learning how to recruit, set up sales funnels, and create products that train others or can be used to make money.

There are many home business owners out there but only a few are really successful. Those are the ones that didn’t stop their training with their sponsors “old school” offline methods. They took the initiative to learn proper marketing techniques and to increase their value as a leader by working on personal development.
